We are building an employee financial benefits platform starting with our flagship product, 401(K). We are innovating in the Retirement Fintech space, and our long term vision is to upend this industry by offering a modern, intuitive and technically supercharged platform for a holistic benefits experience covering 401(K), HSA, FSA and other products.

 

We are looking to grow our engineering team by onboarding an experienced backend engineer. At the core of our business is backend system that keeps detailed records of the activity of an employee including per pay-period contributions, distributions and securities. We are looking to hire a passionate backend engineer who can take the lead on building these systems, and driving the decisions around them.

What you’ll be working on

  • Micro-service for integrating with our custodian business partner, so that we can
    • Automate trades
    • Debit & Credit money
    • Be compliant
  • APIs to support internal services and our UI
  • Integrating with payroll providers through APIs

Who you’ll be working with

  • Saurabh: I am a co-founder @ Feather. I am passionate about helping consumers eliminate financial anxiety by empowering them to build retirement savings. Previously, I worked as a tech lead on Cash App's payment team powering cashing out over ACH and debit rails. Before that, I worked as a senior engineer at Apple, Bloomberg and Google. I graduated from University of Southern California with a degree in Computer Engineer and Video Game programming ✌🏼
  • Aahan: I am a co-founder @ Feather. Previously, I have worked at Goldman Sachs on equities derivatives trading desk. And most recently, I was a Staff Engineer leading Voice platform team at outreach, responsible for over 1.2 million calls happening every month. I studied CS and Finance at University of Texas at Dallas

Your skillset

  • 2+ years backend experience in any of Java, Kotlin, Python. Language skills can be learned, but core backend skills are foundational
  • Comfortable in building a service from the ground up, as well as working across micro-services
  • Plus:
    • AWS Infrastructure

Interview Process

  • Recruiter Call (15 mins): To answer any burning questions you may have, tell you about the opportunity and kick-start the process 🌱
  • Technical Interview with Saurabh (45 mins): Data structures and algorithms. No Leetcode hard!! We want to assess you based on your logical thinking, and not trap you into convoluted puzzles
  • System Design with Saurabh (45 mins): Backend system design covering APIs, data modeling and communication. Hopefully you are excited about big systems and their various components
  • API Design with Aahan (45 mins): Your opportunity to have a conversation with Aahan about both technical and non-technical topics.
